Sister Benigna brought faith and joy wherever she went. She liked music very much and, besides singing, she played a lot of instruments. She used music as a way to evangelize and bring people closer to God and Our Lady. Following her example, Amaiben created in 2016 the “Sister Benigna Choir”, with the intent of using music as way for many people to know the life of the Servant of God. The initial Choir rehearsals took place in the School of Our Lady of Pity, in Belo Horizonte, with six choir members, under the regency of the Conductor Álvaro Antônio Rodrigues. Later on, the rehearsals began to take place in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Conception of the Poor, in Lagoinha neighborhood. For a while, the “Sister Benigna Choir” also had the direction of the Conductor Raphaela Aparecida Severino Lopes. Currently, the choir is under the regency of the Conductor Edson Doliveira.
The first performance happened during the Holy Christmas Mass, in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Conception of the Poor, in December 19 of 2016, in the presence of Mrs. Maria do Carmo Mariano, President of Amaiben. Having already 16 members, the Choir made its first participation in one of the Sister Benigna’s Thanksgiving Masses for her life and sanctity, in the Church of Saint Antony, Belo Horizonte. In January of 2018, there was the release of the “Sister Benigna Choir” video. Since its creation, the Choir has participated in several celebrations. It has been to the tv program Manhã Viva, from the Canção Nova TV. In this program was performed the Hymn of Sister Benigna. Through the “Sister Benigna Choir”, Amaiben wishes to bring the faith, hope and joy of the Servant of God to everyone.
