Amaiben’s Theme Song
Lyrics
I want to be Sister Benigna’s friend,
I want to be a faithful devotee.
I want to be Sister Benina’s friend,
And someday see her in Heaven.
In the city of Diamantina
A beautiful girl was born.
That soon discovered that her calling,
Was to serve God through the fellow man.
In the Congregation of the Auxiliary Sisters
Of Our Lady of Pity.
She then sanctified herself,
Surrendering herself completely to God
Lavras, Itaúna, Lambari, Sabará,
Diamantina, Caeté, Beagá
Smelled the perfume of her sanctity,
Strong example of love for the truth.
I want to be Sister Benigna’s friend,
I want to be a faithful devotee.
I want to be Sister Benina’s friend,
And someday see her in Heaven.
She lived intensely her apostolate.
Her works speak for itself.
And even when placed in a pigsty,
Never stopped to love the whole world.
When she noticed sadness,
She grabbed her guitar
And chanting beautiful songs,
She touched deep in the hearts.
She taught so many to pray
The Hail Holy Mother prayer
And with the Rosary in her hand,
She spreaded such devotion.
I want to be Sister Benigna’s friend,
I want to be a faithful devotee.
I want to be Sister Benigna’s friend,
And someday see her in Heaven.
Many times, by jealousy and envy,
They tried to erase her glow,
But her light shined even more,
What belongs to God no one can undo.
She loved completely her elderlies.
She wanted the best for them.
She fought and built a beautiful chapel,
And with a lot of effort the beautiful grout.
Going at all directions:
Departments, huts, mansions,
God’s voice she made it be heard.
Sister Benigna, pray for us!
I want to be Sister Benigna’s friend,
I want to be a faithful devotee.
I want to be Sister Benina’s friend,
And someday see her in Heaven.
Historic
Initially, the music composed by Ana Beatriz Lucas dos Santos received the title "I want to be a Friend of Sister Benigna".
Later, the singer-songwriter, Dinilson Barbosa da Silva, made a review of the same song, this time, on serenade rhythm, very much appreciated by the Servant of God in life, as a citizen born in the city of Diamantina, birthplace of seresta. By portraying the journey of life of Sister Benigna since her birth, it became then the hymn of the Association of Friends of Sister Benigna - AMAIBEN.
Ana Beatriz Lucas dos Santos, from Belo Horizonte, is a pedagogue, post graduated in Children’s Education.
Her non academic musical qualification started when she was a teenager. Self-taught, she began to show her passion for music through the guitar. She used to play at children’s religious parties, cheering the Confirmation Course in her parish. She got to know the devotion to the Servant of God, Sister Benigna through Maria do Carmo Mariano and obtained inspiration for her songs in the book “the most beautiful stories of Sister Benigna”.
